Swiggy HDFC Credit Card Benefits in 2026: Ornge vs BLCK, Fees and Cashback Caps

Searching for Swiggy HDFC credit card benefits in November 2026? The answer changed this year. HDFC Bank now sells two Swiggy cards, Swiggy Ornge and Swiggy BLCK, and its own migration FAQ (published 28 Oct 2026) says the original Swiggy HDFC Bank Credit Card “is being phased out”. So most reviews that still talk about “10% cashback for ₹500 a year” describe a card you can’t really get any more.

We read HDFC Bank’s card pages, the combined Ornge and BLCK terms (dated 15 Oct 2026), the upgrade and migration FAQs and the fee offer terms on 3 Nov 2026. Every number below comes from those documents, listed under Sources. If you are comparing other cards too, our credit cards page keeps Tata Neu, Scapia, YES BANK POP-CLUB and more side by side, and we also did a detailed Tata Neu Plus vs Infinity comparison.

Quick answer

Pick Swiggy BLCK if you spend about ₹2,000 or more a month on Swiggy, Instamart and Dineout, your net monthly salary is above ₹1 lakh (or ITR above ₹12 lakh), and you can live with a ₹1,000 + taxes yearly fee. Pick Swiggy Ornge if you order less, earn above ₹20,000 a month, or want the lower ₹500 fee (lifetime free in some cases, see below). If you already hold the old Swiggy HDFC Bank Credit Card, it is being phased out and HDFC Bank will ask you to choose; if you don’t reply, you are moved to Ornge. On HDFC Bank’s site, the old card, Ornge and BLCK pages all lead to the same Swiggy application journey, and the bank decides which variant, limit and fee you get.

The headline difference is simple: BLCK pays 10% on Swiggy, Ornge pays 5%. On online shopping both pay 5%, and on everything else both pay 1%. Note on the Ornge cap: in Ornge’s cashback table, the ₹1,500 cap is printed once for the 5% rows, and the bank’s own worked example adds Nykaa, Croma and apparel spends into one “5% cashback” total that stops at ₹1,500. So on Ornge, treat ₹1,500 a cycle as the combined limit for Swiggy plus online cashback. BLCK lists a separate ₹1,500 cap for each.

Which online spends count for 5%?

The terms name Amazon, Flipkart, Myntra, Nykaa, Cleartrip, Ajio, Netflix, Hotstar, BookMyShow and Meesho (all online transactions except excluded categories), plus select merchants in apparel, pharmacies, pet stores, personal care, cabs like Ola and Uber, electronics stores like Reliance Retail, Vijay Sales and Croma, and travel sites like EaseMyTrip, Ixigo and Yatra, each tied to specific merchant category codes. If a merchant’s code isn’t on the list, the 5% doesn’t apply, and the bank says it isn’t responsible when a merchant captures the wrong code.

Limited-period extras

Both cards’ terms also list a Cleartrip offer (instant discount with coupon CTSWHDFC) and a Nykaa instant discount (on orders of ₹1,000+, capped at ₹100 per order, two orders a month). Both are marked “valid for a limited period only”, so check them on the day you shop. There is also a one-time birthday-week Dineout discount of 10% up to ₹500 on bills of ₹3,000 or more.

What earns nothing

Both cards give no cashback on fuel, rent, jewellery, government payments, gaming, education, EMI (all types), wallet loads, gift cards and prepaid cards, HDFC Bank’s Smartpay and SmartBuy portal, cash advances and foreign currency purchases. On Swiggy itself, payments through Swiggy Money Wallet and Swiggy Liquor don’t earn the Swiggy cashback. Refunds and reversals take the cashback back too.

So if a big part of your monthly spend is rent, school fees or petrol, neither variant helps there. Our credit cards page has other options to compare.

Fees, fee waivers and the lifetime-free question

HDFC Bank says the annual fee is charged within 120 days of the card being issued, and the renewal fee from the second year. Cash on call, balance transfers and cash withdrawals don’t count towards the waiver spend.

Is Swiggy Ornge lifetime free? Sometimes. The combined terms say Ornge is lifetime free for applications made through the Swiggy portal from 1 July 2026. A separate offer document lists a lifetime-free offer for “select corporates” chosen by the bank, applied for through the bank’s own portal, and that document says the offer is not valid for applications through a DSA or a partner website. During the application you may still see the ₹500 fee; the bank says eligible cards are converted within 90 days. If lifetime-free matters to you, read the fee shown in the journey carefully before you submit.

For the Ornge welcome benefit, the card must be activated within 37 days of issue (a transaction, setting the PIN, or turning on online use all count), and then you claim Swiggy One in the Swiggy app, which the bank says shows up 2–3 days after activation. If you already have Swiggy One, it is extended by 12 months.

Simple maths: when is BLCK worth the extra fee?

These examples only use the rates and caps above, and assume every spend qualifies. Your real cashback depends on merchant codes, minimum transaction sizes and exclusions.

Monthly spendOrnge cashbackBLCK cashback
₹2,000 Swiggy + ₹3,000 eligible online₹100 + ₹150 = ₹250₹200 + ₹150 = ₹350
₹6,000 Swiggy + ₹5,000 eligible online₹300 + ₹250 = ₹550₹600 + ₹250 = ₹850
₹15,000 Swiggy + ₹20,000 eligible online₹1,500 (5% cap reached)₹1,500 + ₹1,000 = ₹2,500

In the first row, BLCK gives about ₹100 more a month, ₹1,200 a year, which is roughly what its ₹1,000 + taxes fee costs if you don’t hit the ₹2 lakh waiver. In the second row the gap grows to ₹300 a month, ₹3,600 a year, so BLCK clearly wins if you qualify. In the third row Ornge hits its single ₹1,500 cap, while BLCK keeps earning on online spends until its own separate cap.

The catch is eligibility, not maths: BLCK needs a net monthly income above ₹1 lakh. For most first-time card users, Ornge is the only one of the two they can get.

Swiggy HDFC credit card eligibility

Swiggy OrngeSwiggy BLCK
SalariedIndian, age 21–60, net monthly income above ₹20,000Indian, age 21–60, net monthly income above ₹1,00,000
Self-employedIndian, age 21–65, annual ITR above ₹6 lakhIndian, age 21–65, annual ITR above ₹12 lakh

The terms add that the variant is issued based on your credit profile and location as well as income, so you may be offered Ornge even if you applied hoping for BLCK. Documents listed are the usual ones: identity proof (PAN, Aadhaar, passport and so on), address proof and income proof (salary slips, Form 16, ITR or bank statements). Moving later from Ornge to BLCK needs the card to be at least 6 months old and a credit limit of at least ₹1,50,000, plus the bank’s internal checks.

Already have the old Swiggy HDFC card? What happens now

HDFC Bank’s FAQs say the classic Swiggy HDFC Bank Credit Card is being phased out and can’t be kept. Holders are being contacted in phases by SMS and email, and the upgrade FAQ says this will continue until March 2027. Until your turn comes, the old benefits continue (10% on Swiggy up to ₹1,500, 5% on online categories up to ₹1,500 and 1% on other spends up to ₹500 per billing cycle, as per the old card’s page).

  • If you pay a fee on the old card today: choosing Ornge makes it lifetime free; choosing BLCK makes it first-year free, then ₹1,000 a year.
  • If your old card is already lifetime free: Ornge stays lifetime free; BLCK costs ₹1,000 a year.
  • If you don’t reply in time: you get a notice at least 30 days before, and the card is moved to Ornge (lifetime free).
  • Card number changes. Autopay, e-mandates and standing instructions don’t move over, so re-register your subscriptions and bills. Card controls (limits, international use) also need to be set again.
  • The old card keeps working until the earliest of your first transaction on the new card, 60 days after the new card is issued, or the old card’s expiry. Activate the new card within 37 days or it is closed under RBI rules.
  • Your renewal date resets to the migration date, and cashback queries on the old card must be raised within a month of the new card being issued.

You can’t switch back after the move, and if you don’t want either card, the bank says you can close the old card before the migration date or ask about other HDFC Bank cards.

Who should get which card

  • Heavy Swiggy and Instamart user, ₹1 lakh+ salary: BLCK. Double the Swiggy rate and separate caps cover the fee from about ₹2,000 a month on Swiggy, even if you never reach the ₹2 lakh waiver.
  • Orders a few times a month, salary above ₹20,000: Ornge. 5% plus a year of Swiggy One is a decent deal for a low-fee card.
  • Wants airport lounges or travel perks: neither card’s page lists lounge access. Look at travel cards on our credit cards page instead, and see our guide on when to book domestic flights.
  • Mostly shops on Tata brands: a Tata Neu card may suit you better; see our Tata Neu Plus vs Infinity guide.

Whichever you choose, pay the full bill by the due date. Cashback of 5–10% disappears quickly against interest and late fees.

How to apply

HDFC Bank lists a short online process: verify your phone number and date of birth or PAN, confirm your details, select your card and submit. Sometimes the bank asks for documents or a video KYC. The Apply Now button above opens HDFC Bank’s credit card application page through our partner network. Check the variant, fee and terms shown there before you submit. Approval, credit limit and the final variant are decided only by HDFC Bank.
