Trying to settle the Havells vs Pigeon air fryer question? You’re probably looking at two of the most common 4.2-litre digital air fryers in India: the Havells Prolife Vista Digital and the Pigeon Healthifry Digital. Both have the same basket size, touch controls, a 200°C maximum and a 2-year warranty. Both come from well-known Indian brands. Yet the Havells usually costs about double the Pigeon. So what does the extra money actually buy?

The short version: the Havells has a see-through window, 12 preset menus instead of 8, and a slightly stronger 1350W element against 1200W. The Pigeon is much cheaper and adds two things the Havells listing doesn’t mention: an appointment (delay start) function and a defrost mode. We read both live product pages for prices this morning and took specs from Havells’ and Pigeon’s (Stovekraft’s) own pages plus the Croma and Amazon India listings. We haven’t cooked with either unit, so we stick to published specs and explain what they mean in a normal Indian kitchen.

Want more options before you decide? Our best air fryers under ₹6,000 guide compares eight models from Philips, Havells, AGARO, INALSA and others, and the home and kitchen deals page tracks live prices on more appliances.

Quick answer

Buy the Pigeon Healthifry Digital if you want a 4.2L digital air fryer at the lowest price, with delay start and defrost. Buy the Havells Prolife Vista Digital if you want to watch food through the window, prefer 12 presets and don’t mind paying roughly twice as much.

The Havells Prolife Vista Digital (model GHCAFEXK135) is the one to pick if you like seeing your food. Its see-through window lets you check whether the aloo tikki is golden without pulling the basket out and letting the heat escape. The touch panel has 12 preset menus, and Havells uses its Aero Crisp air circulation with a 1350W element. The timer goes up to 60 minutes and switches the fryer off on its own, and you can set the temperature up to 200°C.

Croma lists a non-stick silicon-coated pan with a detachable tray, a cool-touch handle with overheat protection, 3 kV surge protection and a 2-year carry-in warranty. It weighs 3.5 kg and measures 29.5 x 29.5 x 34.8 cm, so give it a deep shelf. It is the pricier of the two by a wide margin; see the Havells Prolife Vista price history before you buy.

What we like

  • See-through window
  • 12 preset menus
  • 1350W, the stronger of the two
  • 60-minute timer with auto shut-off

What could be better

  • No delay start or defrost mode listed

Who should buy it: First-time air fryer users who like one-touch presets and want to watch snacks cook, and anyone who doesn’t mind paying more for the window.

The Pigeon Healthifry Digital (model 15045) by Stovekraft gives you the same 4.2-litre basket and touch controls for a lot less money. It runs at 1200W with Pigeon’s 360° high-speed air circulation, and the Amazon listing gives a temperature range of 80°C to 200°C. There are 8 preset menus, a defrost mode for frozen snacks, and an appointment function that Croma’s listing says can schedule cooking up to 24 hours ahead.

There’s no window, so you’ll pull the basket out to check, as with most budget fryers. The Amazon listing says the basket is non-stick but not dishwasher-safe, and Pigeon recommends a mild scrubber. It measures 30 x 22.9 x 29 cm, a little smaller than the Havells, weighs 3.5 kg and comes with a 2-year warranty. Track its Pigeon Healthifry price history if you want to wait for a dip.

What we like

  • Far cheaper than the Havells
  • Delay start (appointment) and defrost
  • Same 4.2L basket and 2-year warranty

What could be better

  • No see-through window
  • 1200W and 8 presets vs 1350W and 12 on the Havells
  • Basket not dishwasher-safe

Who should buy it: Students, couples and small families who want a digital air fryer on a tight budget, and anyone who likes to set the fryer to start before they get home.

Verdict: Havells Prolife Vista or Pigeon Healthifry?

Get the Pigeon Healthifry Digital if price matters most. You get the same 4.2-litre basket, touch controls, a 200°C maximum and a 2-year warranty for roughly half the Havells’ price at the time of checking. The appointment function and defrost mode are real extras, not filler, especially if you cook frozen snacks or like dinner started before you walk in.

Get the Havells Prolife Vista Digital if you want the window and the extra presets. Being able to see the food is the single biggest everyday convenience difference here, and it helps beginners avoid burnt tikkis. The 1350W element and 60-minute auto shut-off timer are nice to have, too.

On cooking results, we haven’t tested them, so we won’t declare a taste winner. On paper, 150W more power and 4 more presets don’t make the Havells twice as good; they make it a little more convenient.

For most buyers at today’s prices, we’d pick the Pigeon Healthifry Digital and spend the difference on a good silicone liner and tongs. Choose the Havells if the window is a must or you want the extra presets and power.

Design, size and the window

Both fryers use a pull-out basket with a handle, the standard design in this price range. The visible difference is the Havells’ see-through window. With most air fryers you open the basket halfway through to check colour, which lets heat out and adds a minute or two. With the Havells you can just look. For things that go from golden to burnt quickly, like papad, bread pakoda or frozen fries, that’s genuinely useful.

On size, Croma lists the Havells at 29.5 x 29.5 x 34.8 cm and the Amazon listing gives the Pigeon as 30 x 22.9 x 29 cm, so the Pigeon is narrower and shorter. If your counter is shared with a mixer, kettle and induction, the Pigeon is easier to fit. Both weigh about 3.5 kg. Whichever you buy, leave space behind it, because air fryers push hot air out of the back vent, and don’t park it right under a wall cabinet.

Power, presets and cooking features

The Havells has a 1350W element and the Pigeon has 1200W. More watts generally means the fryer reaches temperature a bit faster, but both brands rate their models for the same 200°C maximum and the same 4.2-litre basket, so don’t expect a huge difference in daily use. A 4.2L basket comfortably handles snacks for two to three people; for a family of four or more you’ll cook in batches with either.

Presets are where the Havells pulls ahead on paper: 12 against the Pigeon’s 8. Presets are a starting point, not magic. Most Indian recipes, from paneer tikka to chicken 65, still need you to adjust time and temperature after the first try. If you’re a beginner, more presets make the first few weeks easier; once you know your favourite settings, you’ll mostly use manual mode on either.

The Pigeon fights back with two features. Its appointment function lets you set the fryer to start later; Croma’s listing says up to 24 hours ahead. Its defrost mode helps with frozen nuggets or parathas before crisping. Havells’ page and the Croma listing don’t mention either feature, so we don’t assume the Havells has them.

Cleaning and daily use

Both have non-stick baskets. The Amazon listing says the Pigeon’s basket is not dishwasher-safe, and Pigeon advises a mild scrubber, because harsh scrubbing can scratch the coating. Havells doesn’t say whether its pan is dishwasher-safe, so treat it the same way: soak, wipe and use a soft sponge. In Indian kitchens, where most of us hand-wash anyway, this rarely matters.

A tip that applies to both: don’t use metal spatulas inside the basket and don’t spray aerosol oil directly on the coating. A spoon of oil brushed on the food works better and protects the non-stick layer. If you cook a lot of masala-heavy dishes, a perforated parchment or silicone liner keeps the basket cleaner, which our air fryer buying guide covers in more detail.

Price, warranty and where to buy

This is the Pigeon’s strongest point. At the time of checking, the Pigeon Healthifry Digital was about ₹3,100 cheaper on Amazon than the Havells Prolife Vista Digital on Croma. The live price boxes above refresh daily, so look at those rather than relying on our numbers. MRPs (₹10,995 for the Havells on Croma and ₹5,995 for the Pigeon on Amazon) don’t mean much, because both usually sell well below them.

Both come with a 2-year warranty. Croma lists the Havells warranty as carry-in, which means you take the fryer to a service centre. Before you buy, check on the Havells or Pigeon website that there’s a service centre near you. Keep the invoice. Bank and card offers change often on both stores, so check the offers on the product page before you pay, and see our coupons page for current store codes. You can also browse all Croma deals and Amazon deals we track.

How we compared them

We read the live Croma page for the Havells and the live Amazon India page for the Pigeon during this update for price, MRP and stock. Specs come from Havells’ official Prolife Vista Digital product page, Stovekraft’s Pigeon air fryer page and the Croma and Amazon listings. Where a feature appears on only one store listing, we say which. We don’t use star ratings or review counts, and we haven’t cooked with either fryer, so there are no taste or crispiness scores here, only published specs and what they mean for you.

Frequently asked questions

Which is better, Havells or Pigeon air fryer?

It depends on your budget. The Havells Prolife Vista Digital has a see-through window, 12 presets and 1350W. The Pigeon Healthifry Digital has 8 presets and 1200W, but adds delay start and defrost and costs about half as much at the time of checking. Both have a 4.2L basket and a 2-year warranty.
