Best Laptop Backpacks Under ₹1,500 in India (November 2026)
The 8 best laptop backpacks under ₹1,500 in India from Safari, American Tourister, Skybags, Gear, HP, ASUS and Tommy Hilfiger, with real prices.

Looking for the best laptop backpack under ₹1,500 in India? You don’t need to spend more. Every bag in this list was between ₹473 and ₹1,099 when we checked, and at that money you can already get a padded laptop sleeve, a rain cover, an anti-theft pocket or a trolley sleeve. What changes from bag to bag is size, weight and which of those extras you actually get.
We compared eight backpacks from Safari, American Tourister, Skybags, Gear, HP, ASUS and Tommy Hilfiger, all sold on Amazon India. Specs come from the Amazon listing or the brand’s own page, and prices were read on the live product pages. We haven’t carried these bags ourselves, so there are no durability scores or “tested” claims here, only what each one offers, where it falls short and who it suits.

- Weight

- Yes, stored in a pocket at the bottom
- Security & travel
- Anti-theft pocket at the back, trolley sleeve
- Pockets
- Front quick-access pocket with organiser, 2 side bottle pockets
- Material
- Polyester, water resistant
The Safari Forge is the bag we’d point most people to, because it ticks almost every box that matters in an Indian commute for about ₹1,100. You get 34 litres across three compartments, a laptop sleeve that Safari says takes up to a 17-inch machine, and a front pocket with an organiser for chargers, pens and earphones. Two side pockets hold bottles, which matters more than it sounds on a long metro or bus ride.
What makes it stand out at this price are the extras that usually cost more: a rain cover tucked into the base for the monsoon, an anti-theft pocket on the back panel for your wallet or passport, and a trolley sleeve so it can sit on your cabin bag at the airport or station. At 600 g empty it isn’t the lightest here, and Safari doesn’t list a warranty period on the Amazon page, so keep your invoice.
What we like
- Rain cover, anti-theft pocket and trolley sleeve together
- Takes up to 17-inch laptops
- 34 litres in 3 compartments
What could be better
- Warranty period not stated on the listing
- 600 g is heavier than the slim picks
Who should buy it: Office-goers and college students who carry a big laptop, commute in the rain and travel by train or flight now and then.

- Pockets
- 2 front pockets, bottle and umbrella holder pockets
- Extras
- Compression straps, reflective strips, padded shoulder straps
- Material
- Polyester, water resistant
If you want the most bag for the least money, the Safari Omega is hard to argue with. It was ₹549 when we checked, it was ranked number one in Amazon’s laptop-backpack best-seller list at our check, and it still includes a rain cover, which many ₹1,000 bags skip. You get two large compartments, two front pockets, an organiser section and side pockets for a bottle and an umbrella.
Safari adds compression straps to pull the load tight and reflective strips for walking or riding at night. The laptop compartment is padded, but the listing doesn’t mention a maximum laptop size, so if you carry a 16- or 17-inch laptop, measure first or pick the Forge or Valex instead. You can see how its price has moved on our Safari Omega deal page.
What we like
- Very low price for a 30-litre bag
- Rain cover included
- Reflective strips and compression straps
What could be better
- Max laptop size not listed
- No anti-theft pocket or trolley sleeve
Who should buy it: Students and first-jobbers on a tight budget who want a roomy, rain-ready daily bag.

- Rain cover

- Front organiser compartment, bottle holder
- Water resistance
- Listed as not water resistant
- Warranty
- 1-year global warranty
The American Tourister Valex is the pick if you carry a large gaming or 17-inch work laptop and want a known brand. American Tourister (part of Samsonite) gives it a padded laptop zone for up to 17 inches, a front organiser for quick access and a bottle holder, all in a 28-litre body that weighs about 510 g empty.
It’s the only bag in this list with a clearly stated 1-year global warranty from a big luggage brand, which counts for something if a zip or strap gives way. The trade-offs: there’s no rain cover, and the listing says it isn’t water resistant, so in the monsoon you’ll want a separate cover. Track its price on our Valex deal page.
What we like
- Fits up to 17-inch laptops
- 1-year global warranty
- Light for its size at 510 g
What could be better
- No rain cover; listed as not water resistant
- Smaller than the Forge and Skybags
Who should buy it: People with big laptops who value brand warranty and mostly travel by car, cab or covered transport.

The Skybags Brat Pro Max has the biggest capacity in this list at 35 litres, split into three compartments, and it was ₹739 when we checked. Skybags (from VIP Industries) gives it a dedicated laptop compartment for up to 15.6-inch laptops, a quick-access front pocket, an organiser with a key holder and two side bottle pockets.
On its official page Skybags also mentions a hidden pocket for valuables and an included rain cover, and the Amazon listing adds a 1-year international warranty. The fabric itself is listed as not water resistant, so the rain cover is doing the real work in heavy rain. It’s a bright, casual-looking bag, which suits college more than a formal office.
What we like
- 35 litres, the most here
- Rain cover and hidden pocket
- 1-year warranty from VIP’s Skybags
What could be better
- Laptop limit is 15.6 inches
- Fabric itself not water resistant
Who should buy it: College students and weekend travellers who stuff a lot into one bag and want a rain cover.

Not everyone wants a sporty nylon bag in a client meeting. The Gear Classic 4 uses a faux-leather outer in a brown-and-black finish, so it looks smarter than most bags at ₹899. Inside there are two compartments, a padded sleeve for a laptop up to 15.6 inches plus a tablet, and 31 litres of space.
Gear lists an anti-theft pocket, a cushioned back panel with airflow channels, padded and adjustable shoulder straps, a padded base, bar-tacked load points and heavy-duty zips, with a 1-year warranty. The catch is weight: at 700 g empty it’s the heaviest bag here, and there’s no rain cover, though the fabric is listed as water resistant.
What we like
- Smart faux-leather finish
- Anti-theft pocket and padded base
- 1-year warranty
What could be better
- Heaviest here at 700 g
- No rain cover

The HP 330 was the cheapest bag in this list at ₹473, and it comes from a laptop brand rather than a bag brand. It’s a slimmer 21-litre backpack meant for a 15.6-inch laptop, its charger and a few documents, with a padded back panel and an air-mesh panel against your back.
Handy for travel, it has a trolley pass-through so it slides over your suitcase handle, and HP gives it a 1-year limited warranty with a customer-care number on the listing. It isn’t built for carrying lunch, gym clothes and books together, though. If you need volume, the Safari Omega costs only a little more and holds 30 litres.
What we like
- Lowest price in this list
- Trolley pass-through
- 1-year HP warranty
What could be better
- Only 21 litres
- No rain cover
Who should buy it: Anyone who just needs a safe, simple bag for a 15.6-inch laptop and charger, or a spare travel bag.

- Security & travel
- Anti-theft back pocket, luggage strap
- Comfort

If your shoulders are the priority, the ASUS AP1601 weighs about 400 g, tied for the lightest here. It’s a slim 18-litre bag in water-repellent polyester with two quick-access front pockets, two mesh side pockets for bottles and internal pockets for cables and stationery. A luggage strap and an anti-theft back pocket make it a good airport bag.
ASUS’s own spec page lists it for 16-inch laptops, with a 38 x 26 x 2.5 cm laptop compartment (the Amazon spec table says 15.3 inches, so we went with ASUS), and the warranty is 1 year. The limit is space: 18 litres is the smallest here, so it’s for a laptop, charger and a few essentials, not a full day’s load.
What we like
- About 400 g, among the lightest
- Anti-theft back pocket and luggage strap
- Water-repellent fabric
What could be better
- Only 18 litres, the smallest here

The Tommy Hilfiger Joshua is for people who want a recognisable fashion label without crossing ₹1,500; it was ₹1,049 when we checked. It’s a slim, plain black 21-litre bag with three compartments, a padded section for a 15-inch laptop, a tablet compartment, a bottle holder and a pocket for a USB cable or power bank.
The listing rates it water resistant, it weighs about 400 g, and it carries a 1-year manufacturer warranty. You are paying a little extra for the badge: the Skybags gives you more space for less money. But if you want a clean, slim bag for office use that doesn’t look like a college bag, it’s a sensible choice.

Specs as listed on Amazon India or the brand’s official page. “Not listed” means we couldn’t find it on the pages we checked. For the ASUS we used the laptop size on ASUS’s own spec page. Weights are empty-bag weights from the listings.
How we picked
We started with the best-selling laptop backpacks on Amazon India under ₹1,500 and kept brands with a proper Indian presence, such as Safari, VIP’s Skybags, Samsonite’s American Tourister, Gear, HP, ASUS and Tommy Hilfiger. That ruled out the many unbranded ‘anti-theft USB’ bags that sell for ₹300 with no clear warranty or after-sales support.
For each bag we read the price on the live Amazon page and noted capacity, maximum laptop size, empty weight, rain cover, security and travel features and warranty from the listing, then cross-checked with the brand’s site where it had a page. Where two figures disagreed, as with the ASUS laptop size, we went with the brand’s official page. We left out the HP Everyday 16-inch backpack because it was ₹1,900 at our check, over this budget.
Buying guide: choosing a laptop backpack in India
Measure your laptop first
Laptop sizes are measured diagonally across the screen, but the bag needs to fit the whole body. Most bags here are listed for 15.6-inch laptops; the Safari Forge and American Tourister Valex take up to 17 inches. If you have a 16-inch laptop, measure its width and the sleeve, because a tight fit strains the zip every day.
Capacity: how many litres do you need?
About 18–21 litres is enough for a laptop, charger, a notebook and a bottle. Around 28–31 litres adds space for a lunch box, a jacket or gym clothes. At 34–35 litres you can pack for a night away. Bigger isn’t always better: a half-empty big bag flops around, and you tend to fill it and carry more weight.
Rain cover vs water-resistant fabric
Water-resistant fabric copes with a drizzle, but in heavy monsoon rain water gets in through the zips. A rain cover that pulls over the whole bag is the real protection, and three of our picks include one: the Safari Forge, Safari Omega and Skybags Brat Pro Max. For the others, a separate cover costs a little extra and is worth it if you ride a two-wheeler.
Comfort and weight
An empty bag weighs 400–700 g here. Padded shoulder straps, a padded or mesh back panel and a chest-level fit matter more than a few grams, especially on a long commute. Keep the heavy laptop close to your back and adjust both straps so the bag sits high rather than hanging low.
Extras that are actually useful
A trolley sleeve is great at airports and stations. An anti-theft back pocket keeps your phone and wallet away from pickpockets in crowded trains and buses. Reflective strips help at night. Bottle pockets on both sides balance the load. USB charging ports are a gimmick on cheap bags, since you still have to carry a power bank inside, so we didn’t treat them as a plus.
Which bag for college, office or travel?
For college
Go for space and a rain cover: the Skybags Brat Pro Max (35 litres) or the Safari Omega (30 litres) hold books, a laptop and lunch, and both include a rain cover. The Omega is the cheaper of the two.
For office
If you want a smart look, the Gear Classic 4’s faux leather or the slim Tommy Hilfiger Joshua will look better with formal clothes. For a big laptop and a long commute, the Safari Forge is the most complete option.
For travel
A trolley sleeve or luggage strap is the key feature. The Safari Forge, HP 330 and ASUS AP1601 have one, and the ASUS is the lightest to carry through an airport. If you’re planning a trip around the year-end sales, keep an eye on our upcoming sales calendar and the latest coupons.
