Noise Vortex Plus vs boAt Storm Call 3 is one of the most common face-offs when you’re shopping for a Bluetooth calling smartwatch on a small budget. Both come from Indian brands, both let you take calls from your wrist, both claim up to 7 days of battery, and both sell for a fraction of their printed MRP. So which one actually deserves your money?

They are quite different watches once you look past the headline. The Noise Vortex Plus is a round watch with a 1.46-inch AMOLED screen and always-on display, made to look like a regular analogue-style watch. The boAt Storm Call 3 is a square watch with a bigger 1.83-inch HD screen, and its big trick is built-in map navigation from MapmyIndia, plus an emergency SOS button. Below we compare them row by row using the brands’ own spec pages and the store listings, show today’s prices, and tell you who should buy which.

We haven’t tested these watches ourselves, so this is a spec-sheet comparison, not a review. If you’re also shopping for earbuds to pair with your new watch, see our best earbuds under ₹2,000 guide, and browse all live electronics deals.

Quick answer

Buy the boAt Storm Call 3 if you want the lower price, turn-by-turn maps on your wrist, an SOS button and lots of workout modes. Buy the Noise Vortex Plus if you want a sharper AMOLED screen with always-on display, a round watch that looks good at the office, and IP68 water resistance.

The Noise Vortex Plus is the better-looking screen of the two on paper. Its 1.46-inch round AMOLED panel runs at 466 × 466 pixels with up to 600 nits of brightness, and it supports always-on display, so the time stays visible without flicking your wrist. AMOLED also means true blacks, which makes analogue-style watch faces look much closer to a real watch. Noise offers 100+ watch faces, including mood-based ones that change with how the watch thinks you’re feeling.

The variant we link to is the Metal Black one with a metal link strap, which is why it costs a little more than the silicone-strap versions. Noise lists a zinc alloy case and a standard 22mm strap, so you can swap in any 22mm band later. Calling works through Noise’s Tru Sync Bluetooth calling, and the NoiseFit app (Android and iPhone) handles health data, watch faces and notifications.

Battery is rated at up to 7 days of typical use, about 2 days if you use Bluetooth calling heavily, and up to 30 days on standby. A full charge takes up to 2 hours. Noise doesn’t list built-in navigation or an SOS feature for this model. We track this watch as a live deal too: see its price history on GrabDeals.

What we like

  • AMOLED display with always-on mode
  • Sharper 466 × 466 screen, 600 nits
  • IP68 water resistance
  • Round metal look that suits office wear

What could be better

  • Costs more than the boAt
  • No built-in map navigation or SOS listed
  • Slower charging (up to 2 hours)

Who should buy it: You want a watch that looks like a proper watch on your wrist, care about a bright, sharp AMOLED screen and always-on display, and don’t need maps or an SOS button.

The boAt Storm Call 3 wins on features per rupee. Its headline feature is built-in map navigation by MapmyIndia: you set a route in the boAt Crest app and the watch shows turn-by-turn directions, which is handy on a bike or scooter when you don’t want to keep pulling out your phone. It also has an emergency SOS feature that alerts your saved emergency contacts with a press of the button, and a QR tray that stores your UPI or other QR codes on the watch so you can show them at a shop.

The screen is bigger, at 1.83 inches, but it’s an HD panel rather than AMOLED, and the store listings show 550 nits of brightness and no always-on display. boAt claims 700+ activity modes, heart rate, SpO2 and sleep tracking, plus energy and sleep scores in the Crest app, and you get DIY Watch Face Studio for making your own watch faces. Water and dust resistance is IP67.

boAt’s product page says the battery lasts up to 7 days; its support page is more conservative at 5 days of working time and 15 days of standby, from a 230mAh battery. Charging takes about an hour. Bought on boAt’s own website, it carries a 12-month warranty plus 3 extra months. We also track it as a deal: see its price history.

What we like

  • Much cheaper than the Noise right now
  • Built-in turn-by-turn map navigation
  • Emergency SOS and QR tray
  • 700+ activity modes, 1-hour charging

What could be better

  • HD screen, not AMOLED; no always-on display
  • IP67 rather than IP68
  • boAt’s own pages quote 5 to 7 days of battery

Who should buy it: You ride a bike or scooter, want maps and an SOS button on your wrist, work out a lot, or simply want a capable calling watch for the lowest price.

Verdict: which smartwatch should you buy?

Get the boAt Storm Call 3 if you want the most features for the least money. At today’s price it costs about half as much as the Noise, and it’s the only one of the two with turn-by-turn map navigation and an emergency SOS button. Bikers, delivery partners, students and anyone who works out a lot will get more use out of it.

Get the Noise Vortex Plus if the screen and the look matter most. The AMOLED panel is sharper and brighter on paper, it can stay on all day with always-on display, and the round metal design passes as a regular watch at the office or a wedding. IP68 is also a step above the boAt’s IP67.

Both are budget watches, so don’t expect phone-level accuracy from the health sensors. Treat heart-rate and SpO2 numbers as a rough guide, not a medical reading.

How we compared them

We read both product pages on the day of publishing for price and stock, and took specs from Noise’s official Vortex Plus page, boAt’s Storm Call 3 product and support pages, and the Amazon India and Croma listings. Amazon’s spec table for the Storm Call 3 lists an AMOLED screen that boAt’s own pages don’t mention, so we went with boAt’s description (HD display). We don’t give star scores, and we haven’t used either watch ourselves, so everything here is what the brands say on paper.

Display and design: round AMOLED vs big square screen

This is the biggest difference. The Noise’s AMOLED screen gives deeper blacks and richer colours, and always-on display means it works like a normal watch. The boAt’s 1.83-inch square screen is larger, so text messages and maps have more room, but it’s an HD panel and it lights up on a wrist raise (wake gesture) instead of staying on.

Which looks better on the wrist?

That’s personal. Round metal watches like the Vortex Plus suit formal and office wear. The Storm Call 3 is the familiar square, Apple Watch-style shape that many people like for the gym and daily use, and it comes in several colours, including Mint Green, Cherry Blossom and Salmon Peach.

Battery life and charging

Both brands claim up to 7 days of typical use, so on paper it’s a tie. The Noise is more open about calling: it says about 2 days if you use Bluetooth calling a lot. boAt’s support page quotes 5 days of working time, so plan for somewhere between 5 and 7 days depending on how often you take calls and how bright you keep the screen.

Standby favours Noise (30 days vs 15), but charging favours boAt: about an hour for a full charge against up to 2 hours on the Noise. If you’re the type to forget charging, a quick one-hour top-up before leaving home is a real advantage.

Navigation, fitness and safety

Map navigation is the Storm Call 3’s reason to exist. The watch shows MapmyIndia directions sent from the boAt Crest app on your phone, so your phone still needs to be with you. It’s still a big help on a two-wheeler, where checking your phone is unsafe. The emergency SOS feature is another practical extra, especially for people who commute alone late in the evening.

For fitness, both track heart rate, SpO2, sleep and steps. boAt lists 700+ activity modes against 110+ on the Noise, but most people use only five or six (walking, running, cycling, yoga, gym), so don’t pay for the number alone. Noise adds stress tracking and a female cycle tracker.

Calling, apps and compatibility

Both watches have a built-in mic and speaker for Bluetooth calling, and both use Bluetooth 5.2. You’ll use NoiseFit with the Vortex Plus and boAt Crest with the Storm Call 3, and both apps support Android and iPhone. Noise asks for Android 9 or iOS 17 or newer. Both show app notifications from your phone, but these are simple watches, not Wear OS or Apple Watch, so don’t expect third-party apps on the watch itself.

If you take a lot of calls on the go, pair the watch with a good set of earbuds. Our realme Buds T310 vs OnePlus Nord Buds 3r comparison covers two popular picks under ₹2,000.

Where to buy and price tips

We link to the Noise Vortex Plus on Amazon India and the boAt Storm Call 3 on boAt’s own website, where boAt adds 3 months of extra warranty and runs codes like BOATHEAD for prepaid orders. Both watches sell far below their MRP most days, so the MRP isn’t a useful guide. The prices here are what each store showed at our last check, and we re-check them daily. See our boAt deals, Amazon deals and coupons pages before you buy, and follow our Telegram channel for price drops.

Frequently asked questions

Which is better, Noise Vortex Plus or boAt Storm Call 3?

It depends on what you need. The Noise Vortex Plus has the better screen on paper (1.46-inch AMOLED with always-on display) and IP68. The boAt Storm Call 3 is cheaper and adds map navigation, emergency SOS and 700+ activity modes.

Does the boAt Storm Call 3 have GPS?

It has built-in map navigation by MapmyIndia, but the directions come through the boAt Crest app on your phone, so you need to carry your phone. The Noise Vortex Plus doesn’t list map navigation.

Does the Noise Vortex Plus have an AMOLED display?

Yes. It has a 1.46-inch round AMOLED display with 466 × 466 resolution, up to 600 nits brightness and always-on display. The boAt Storm Call 3 uses a 1.83-inch HD display without always-on mode.

Which has better battery life?

Both brands claim up to 7 days of typical use. Noise quotes about 2 days with heavy Bluetooth calling and 30 days of standby. boAt’s support page lists 5 days of working time and 15 days of standby, but it charges fully in about an hour against up to 2 hours for the Noise.

Can I swim with these watches?

The Noise Vortex Plus is rated IP68 and the boAt Storm Call 3 is rated IP67, so both handle sweat, rain and hand-washing. boAt says the Storm Call 3 is fine for swimming, but IP ratings aren’t tested for chlorine or salt water, so rinse it afterwards and avoid hot showers.

Do both watches work with iPhone?

Yes. The NoiseFit and boAt Crest apps are available for both Android and iPhone. Noise asks for iOS 17 or newer.
